Simon's XJ750

1982 Yamaha XJ750 cafe racer from Britain

The fuel tank is an old British aluminium item which, according to the builder, fitted the frame of this bike with minimal fettling. The rear end is a Steel Yamaha TZ unit, which has been widened to fit the frame and painted a flat Porsche black. It houses a lightweight li-ion battery and a frenched in rear lamp from a military Land Rover, chosen by Simon because it's glass, and he doesn't like plastic, and it twists off to easily change the bulb. Front mudguard is original but bobbed to a suitable size then professionally painted the same as the hump. Clip-ons are by Tarozzi and are adjustable. The rearsets are a combination of parts some bought, some hand made and Simon says they were probably the most difficult piece to get right: but worth the effort as the riding position is good and even the MOT tester commented on the fact that they were properly done. Tyres are Avon Roadriders. The exhaust has Jama cans and according to Simon, they sound nice but not offensive. Custom made mocal brake hoses fitted to an early R1 master cylinder improves the braking. Finally, Simon cannot remember where the headlamp is coming from... Inazuma approved.

The cigarette after

"The cigarette after" concept by Christophe Sarrazin

"My imaginary Triumph, designed in 3D (...) Strange, I miss it. It's certainly the spirit of the British brand - ;-) - who plays as a brain washer. But everything will be ok after a black coffee (no sugar, please)"
